PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Grad Expectations is Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA)'s annual graduate showcase, presented by NAFA’s Faculty of Art & Design. The event features works by graduates from the Fine Art (Diploma and Degree), 3D Design, Design & Media, Fashion Studies, and BA (Honours) Design Practice programmes (UAL).
The Challenge:
Collaborate with the team to conceptualise and execute the key visuals for the 2025 edition, utilising an eclectic mix of colours and dynamic forms to create a visually striking identity that captures the raw essence of creativity — structured yet expressive, refined yet unpredictable.
The Solution:
We harmonised bold and maximalist elements to make this year's branding more immersive. The seamless and organic flow of shapes in the key visual is put to the spotlight through tight cropping and layered compositions, creating a sense of movement and tension, while the colour palette is curated to reflect the dynamic and experimental spirit of the graduating cohort. Each shape within the visual is designed to represent the distinct identity of its respective faculty or discipline — conveying movement, structure, creativity, or innovation.
The brand mark and key visuals were subsequently applied across multiple formats, including outdoor banners, wayfinding decals, and various web and digital graphics. As part of my role, I was involved in the initial conceptualisation, creative direction, development of the brand guidelines, and graphic adaptations across print and web.

VIsUAL sySTEM
As the exhibition itself was held over multiple days and locations, guiding visitors to the right place at the right time is important.
Utilising the key visual as an anchor, we designed a tab system to group shows by faculty and venue, ensuring clarity of information while enabling a flexible visual system for different applications.
